Payton's first few weeks

Payton,

The first night home was not very good. You were up for about 3 hours in the night. You hated being on your back in the pack and play. Which is weird since you were in the hospital. I had to literally hold your paci in your mouth to keep you from crying. Long. Night.

We decided the next night to keep you in the swing and you did much better! We spent Saturday playing with Brody and adoring and holding you! It was a great day!!! Your big brother sure loves you! He loves holding you and being around you. He brought you blankies and paci's to help soothe you. Its so sweet. Sunday, you got your first bath. You were not so much a fan! :)

Monday, May 5, was your first doctors appointment. It went well. You weigh 7.7 pounds and are 20 in. long. Since you lost 7 ounces we will go back on Friday to check your weight again. This week Nana was here. She helped us so much! You were loved on and held a lot! We also did your newborn pictures on Wednesday and you did great!

This week you have had some big spit ups! We asked the dr and she said just watch it. You are eating great! I think maybe you get too full or you have some reflux. You are very gassy and burp and toot a lot so I think sometimes your belly hurts! On Friday, you were 7 pounds 11 ounces and the doctor was pleased with your gain!

The next week Lolly came. Again, she was a great help! You were loved on and held a lot again :) Its so hard not to! :) You sleep well in the swing so that is what we are doing now. You are having very large spit ups and still some more tummy issues. So I called the doctor Thursday. They didnt call back. ON Friday you ahd blood coming from your belly button so I just stopped by the doctor to ask. They had you come in. We have to put alcohol in your belly button to have it dry up and we got you some Zantac for your belly. Hopefully it will help!

We went to a few stores for some things. It was probably too soon, so we probably wont do that for a while. On Saturday, Lolly took Brody to Amarillo and on Monday we went to pick him up. He sure missed you! It seems like so long ago that you arrived, yet just yesterday. It has been a blast and we are so glad you are here! Love you baby girl!

Welcome Payton!

Payton,

I cannot believe that you are here! You arrived May 1, 2014 at 5:26 pm. You weighed in at 7 lbs and 14 oz and you were 19 inches long. We feel in love immediately. Here's your birth story.

Mommy and daddy decided to induce on May 1, 2014, 2 days from your due date. We did this so grandparents could be there and because you were already getting big!

Mommy and daddy had to be at the hospital at 5 am. We both slept pretty good but were very excited and got up pretty easily. We woke up at 4:15 am. We arrived at the hospital at 5 am. We got checked in and everything situated. At about 5:25, mommy got her IV in. She had to have pencillin for some preventative things and some fluid. The penicillin through the IV hurt mommy pretty bad. Then we had get them to slow it down. It burned mommy's arm.

At about 6:15, we started the pitocin. Mommy was having pretty regular contractions but I was not feeling any really at all. At 7:15 am, Dr. Schmitz came in and broke my water. The contractions were still coming and getting stronger and closer but mommy still didn't feel any.

At about 9:30, they came in to give mommy her epidural. I couldn't decide if I wanted to do it or not but the anesthesiologist was leaving and we decided to give me a low dose so I didn't feel lots of pain, but so I could still move some. It kicked in fairly quickly. So mommy never really felt any contractions.

At about 12:30/1, I was at about halfway there to be ready to meet you! Mommy was flipped from side to side to try and help things move and to get you in the right position. At about 4:00, mommy was just about ready. However, an emergency came up in the room next to us and we had to wait for a while.

At about 5:00 pm, we were ready to get the process moving to meet you. And at 5:26 pm, we heard your sweet cry for the first time! It was very uneventful, but we are thankful for that. We are thankful that you were healthy and that everything went smoothly! Mommy and daddy feel in love immediately and we were so excited to meet you. Nana and Lolly were also in the room and Papa and Peeps were right outside. ONce they heard you cry, they stepped in behind the curtain and got to see you be weighed. Our nurse, Marlene was great and we loved Dr. Schmitz! You did great all day and your heart rate was great! Good job baby girl!

We were able to then pray with you, just mommy and daddy. It was very special. Mommy also nursed you the first time. you were a champ and ate great! Then the grandparents got to hold you a little bit. Then, you met your big brother BRODY for the first time!! Then, they took you to the nursery for a while to get checked out.

At about 9 pm we moved to our room. We got up every 2 hours to feed and you did great. You slept like a champ!!! You did have 2 choking episodes at the hospital which was scary but we got through those!

Visitors: Pastor Mal, Pastor Diane, Pastor Mark, Alana, and Kristi.

We both were at the hospital Friday being monitored and checked out. We both passed and we were able to head home on Friday at about 6:45 pm!

We are so excited you are here and to have you home. You make our family so happy!!! We love you baby girl and welcome to our world sweet pea. Its a little sweeter now that you are here!

I love you!

April 2014

This is a busy month little man!! We are preparing for Payton, in the swing of things for the Spring, and enjoying time with you. Nana, Papa, Lolly, and Peeps came the first weekend of April for a shower for Payton. You sure did love having them here!!! Of course you were spoiled, but thats okay. Thats what grandparents do right?! :)

We have gone to some baseball games, many park trips, and played outside often. The weather is finally nice enough to do those things. We love doing them with you and you sure love them!

We got to go to the big Easter egg hunt again this year in Orchards Park. You LOVED it. Except for the fact that you only got to do the bounce house for about 2 minutes after waiting a long time. You were a bit shy about getting the eggs, but daddy helped and you got some!

We celebrated Easter at church and had lunch at home, just the 3 of us. We also did some Easter egg hunting in our back yard after your nap and you loved doing that. We have enjoyed park days (lots of them). You love to swing, walk around, chase us, and slide. Seeing a smile on your face and hearing your laugh is so precious to us. We love being your parents and our time with you big boy!! We cant wait for many more adventures to come!!! I cant wait to see you be an awesome big brother either!!!

I love you bubs!
