Brody,
February was filled with many things. From Valentines Day, to an ER visit, to a weekend with Nana!
We had more snow days this month. That is just kind of how it goes here for us this year. Every month since November we have had at least one snow day. More days at home with Mommy! We enjoy them and have lots of fun. We cuddle, watch videos, finger paint, color, what ever you want!
We started the beginning of Feb. with having the stomach bug that mommy and daddy had! No fun. you had lots of diarehhea and you threw up once. Mommy stayed home with you on Sunday and you got better pretty quickly! So Glad!!!
On February 9, we had life group at our house. You played and have fun and went to bed just fine. About 12:45 am you woke up with a "barky" cough. It sounded very much like croup. You used to get it a lot last year so I know the cough well. However, when you wake up with it in the middle of the night, you usually go back to sleep and we can take you to the doctor the next morning. This night was different. You kept coughing a little more. I was in bed, but daddy was watching TV. I got up to come to your room and daddy was already holding you. You were wheezing and having a very hard time breathing. Your breaths were very deep and labored and you were gagging trying to catch your breath. Daddy sat down with you and turned the light on and grabbed a towel. When the light came on you were bright red and eyes bulging. We decided pretty quickly to call 911. It seemed like asthma. The coughing was gone but you couldn't breath. Daddy's face scared mommy because I could tell he was scared for his boy. I went and got my phone and called 911. I left the room a few times so I didnt loose it and to keep calm. THey got to our house and your breathing had gotten better. You kept gagging and coughing up mucus though and still labored. THey told us that you were stable but needed to be seen that night. So we loaded up and headed to the ER. You were diagnosed with very bad croup. You had to get a breathing treatment, which you HATED!! We then gave you a steroid through apple juice and they observed you. After those two things, your breathing was much better. We were released after about 1 1/2 hours. You had to do 3 days of steroids. I am so glad it was only croup but you sure scared mommy and daddy real bad. Let's not do that again! :)
You got to have a Valentines Party this year at school. You got 2 days of them since you go M-F to Pre-School. Something funny is that your poop turned bright green because you had blue icing! :) On Valentines, you and mommy had a date. Daddy was in Houston speaking at a retreat so it was just us! We made homemade pizza, baked cupcakes, and put BLUE icing on them. We had lots of fun! We had a weekend just you and mommy while daddy was gone. We went to the park 3 times! It was so pretty and we have both missed park time. You have so much fun and I love watching you! Mommy made you a Valentine with goldfish because those are some of your favorites!! You got lots of neat ones too! :)
The next weekend, mommy and daddy took our students on retreat. Nana and granny came in to watch you for the weekend. Mommy lost her phone when we were about to leave so nana and you and granny went looking for it Friday night. We luckily found it! Saturday yall went to Crystal Bridges, Hobby Lobby, and Wal-mart. I hear you were a trooper! Good job bud! They had a blast with you. Sunday we came home. We got to set your room up and spend time with nana and granny!
This week we tried a new doctor for you. Dr. Alexander. We really like her and I think we will continue to use her. She agreed that you had croup and not asthma but we will keep an eye on it.
You have had lots of allergies this month too which is no fun. It has given you a hard time sleeping some night. In fact one night, you were up from 12:45 am - 6:30 am. We were all so tired the next day. Nothing we did would get you back to sleep. you were very restless and unhappy in the night. But you had not fever and no symptoms really. I think just uncomfortable with allergies. Poor boy!
You do this funny thing were you ask a question then shake your head yes as if already saying that we would say yes.
