January 2013 - 16 months

Brody,

How in the world are you 16 months?? I know I say that all the time but time.is.flying. You are growing up so fast on me! I am loving every minute with you though!!

Fits: This month you have gotten really good at the art of......Fit Throwing. If you dont get anything you want or are mad at something, you throw yourself down and start screaming. It was cute, oh the first time, but now its not so fun. We just let you scream because you have to learn you cant throw a fit to get what you want. It is hard but I hope you are learning. One night you wanted to play in 35 degree weather outside and we wouldnt let you and so you threw a huge fit. So bad you were gagging and hyperventilating. NOT FUN!

Sleeping: Sleeping well! You go to sleep pretty clockwork at 7:30 pm and pretty clockwork wake up about 7:00 am. Sometimes you cry throughout the night but most of the time you are good about putting yourself back to sleep.

Eating: MUCH better this month. You are eating more in quantity and a little more variety. You really like dried apples and bananas this month! You still are not a big milk drinker but you like juices and water pretty well so we do that for you to get your fluids.

Playing: Boy do you play!! We love watching you play, playing with you, and see you explore and discover new things! You never cease to amaze us. One of my favorite parts of each day is getting home and getting on the floor to play with you!

Things we did: We have had a busy but semi-normal month. We celebrated Mommys birthday with the Harris'. THen on Jan 7 we both went back to school. Daddy started Upwards this month so that keeps him busy on Saturdays. On Jan 15 mommy's godfather passed away. I loved him very much. You and mommy headed to Killeen on 17th of Jan for the funeral. We drove to Tulsa, flew to Dallas, drove to Killeen. You did awesome going but not as much coming back. But it was during your nap time so mommy understood. We had a very nice time in Killeen. We got to see many people and the funeral was very nice. Of course everyone doted on you - but how could you not dote on a cute little boy like you:) You have been doing good at school. One day you did get time out for running a kid over but I doubt you understood what you did :) It has been busy but fun and I have loved every minute with you this month! You also had your first haircut and hated it!

Milestones:

1) Saying "Car", "Uh Oh", "Nana", "Bubbles", "Dog", "Mama", "Dada", "Bye bye", "Papa", "Night Night", "Baawwll" (thats how you pronounce Ball :), "Papa", "Turtle" sometimes, "Du" for duck, almost say "diaper"! My oh my what a talker you have become! You learn new words all the time now. One night in the tub you just said Bubbles! Crazy - I didnt even know you knew how to say it.

2) You hold up 1 finger to say you are one

3) On Jan 22, we started you with Paci's only at nap time and night time and you do great! This morning Jan 31, you just woke up and handed me your paci! Also, no more bottles! We went cold turkey but you have been a trooper!

4) When we say bath time you know to go straight to your room to change.

5) You love running around naked :)

6) You will go sit yourself on the fireplace if we ask you to take a picture.

7) Jan 25 you got your 1st haircut and HATED it!!! Now we fix your hair like a big boy with gel and hairspray and you love doing it!

8) You are not much of a rocker. You pretty much want to be put down at bed time.

9) Hold your hands together for prayer time and get excited to say Amen!

10) Eating much better and more food now! Still picky but not bad. Favorites this month are bananas, avacado, dried apples, cheese (of course!), juice (not much milk), water from a cup and straw, Teddy Grahams (goodness gracious - you go crazy over these), cheese its.

11) Run everywhere!

12) Know where your eyes are, teeth are, shoes are, feet are, tummy is, hair is.

13) "brush" your hair and you LOVE mommys hair.

14) Do our I Love you song

15) LOVE to wrestle and yell with mommy and daddy

16) Love lunging into your ball pit, sliding, and playing with cars

17) Love Mickey Mouse Club, the only cartoon you will really watch

18) Can feed yourself with a spoon and you "blow" on your food

19) About 23 pounds, 18 month clothes, and size 4/5 shoe, size 4 diaper

Wow! You did a lot of growing and developing this month! It was so fun for Mommy to see! :)

I love your laugh, the fact that you dash into my arms when I get home, your hugs and kisses, hearing you say mama, when you play with my hair to go to sleep, and sweet cuddles with you! It my pure pleasure and joy to be your mama. I am so blessed that the Lord choose me as your mom! Although I dont get to spend everyday with you at home, know I am constantly thinking of you, praying for you, and loving you from a far. Know I would do it in a heartbeat if I could. You are my world sweet boy and your daddy and I are so proud of you!

Happy 1st Birthday!!!

I realized I never posted this when updating for December. So here it is. I know its posted late but its for your birthday and didnt want you to not have it!

Brody,

Happy 1st birthday! My oh my how this year has flown by!!! I just wanted to tell you that this has been the absolute best year of my life. Getting to raise you is such a joy. Many have commented on how adorable you are, how laid back you are, how cute you are, etc. My heart just fills with joy anytime these people even mention your name. I brag about you all the time. You are always on my mind.

This year had its ups and downs. You were sick some and that made Mommy really nervous. Mommy has had to learn to know worry about every little thing and that you wont break. I just want to make sure I keep you as safe as possible. So you had many doctor visits and were just fine - but thats ok! I felt better KNOWING you were ok.

Your laughter, smile, and eyes can literallly make my worst day better. I remember coming home from my first day of work away from you devasted that I had to be away from you all day and I just picked you up and cried and hugged you and it made me feel so much better just having you in my arms.

You are everything to me Brody. I dont know what I would do without you in my life know. Being your mommy is one of the greatest joys I have ever had. I LOVE it! I would not trade it for anything in this world. I promise everyday to be the best mommy I can be for you. I promise to love you, support you, and always be there for you no matter what. Through thick and thin. I will love you.

Happy 1st year and I cant wait to spend so many more with you and watch you grow up!!

December 2012 - 15 months

Fun stuff we did: This month we did lots of fun stuff. The first weekend you got to go spend a whole Friday evening with Zaylee. Yall played and got to take a bath together and have dinner together! Mommy and Daddy got to go on a date while you were there. The next day we had play practice so you got to play in the gym. You LOVE running around in the gym at church. You just run around and babble and scream. You love it! And you are so darn cute when you do it! :) Then we went to the Christmas parade for a while but you started getting tired and hungry so we left.

Eating: You are still being a pretty picky eater this month. You literally live on bananas, cheese, oatmeal, applesauce, mac and cheese, grilled cheese, granola bars, yogurt and puffs. We try other stuff all the time, you just usually are not interested and push it away or say no. We will keep trying! Surely that same stuff over and over is getting boring :) You are getting better about drinking milk at school but you usually just drink it at home. You are using sippys better and drinking more often while eating. We usually do water during meals.

Sleeping: You sleep great! (Knock on wood :)) You go down about 7:45 and sleep until about 6:45 on school days and about 7:30/8 on weekends. I dont know how you know its the weekend - but I am so grateful you do! You dont really like me to rock you. You just want to be laid down and put yourself to sleep. I am thankful for this most of the time, but sometimes Mommy just wants to rock you! :)

One night we were playing and somehow your bumped your mouth and your gums were bleeding a little. When we went to clean up your gums and mouth we found that your top lip is completely attached to your gums all the way down. Meaning, that all the way down your top lip,where most people have a gap and can put the tongue between their lip and their gum, its attached to your gum. We cannot pull your top lip away from your gums. We are not really worried about it. We think that the dentist will probably be able to snip it and it will be just fine. We will take you next spring sometime. Mommy is not looking forward to that trip!

Your personality is coming out this month! You are so fun to watch and play with. You love wrestling. You LOVE music. You bob your head and wave your arms and stomp your feet. You love just walking everywhere. You squeal while you do it and its so cute. Your babbles are so cute and you babble a lot! You love being goofy and making silly face. You like to stick out your tongue too.

For the first time this month when we said no no you got really sad. Usually you get mad and throw a fit. We were in the bathroom and you were taking a bath. You were trying to stand up and we said no no. You puckered your lip and got this sad look on your face. It was so darn cute that mommy and daddy had a really hard time not laughing and smiling but we tried so you knew we meant no. You have done that several times this month.

Christmas: Christmas was fun for you this year!!! First we went to Amarillo to see Lolly and Peepsand were there from the 23rd - 28th. Here you got spoiled, of course, and got to play in the snow for the very first time! You liked it pretty well but were very cold :) Mer and grandad got you snow boots and you had a hard time walking in them at first. It was so cute! Your second time in the snow you face planted and you were mad!!! It was funny though. You enjoyed playing with Parker and MacKenzie and loved rocking in the rocking chair and riding their bike. You also loved steeping up and down on the step stool. Then we headed to Killeen and had Christmas with Nana and Papa. We were there from the 28th - Jan 1. You again got spoiled (Mommy and Daddy have know idea were to keep all your stuff now :)) and had fun with your cousins. Everyone at church loved seeing you! Then on Jan 1 we headed back to Bentonville. You did awesome in the car! I was so proud of you!!! We were very blessed this Christmas. Yes by gifts but more importantly by remembering Jesus and what he did on earth for us. I pray nightly that you will grow up to love Jesus and realize all He has done for us!!

Important things happening in your development:

1) Learning to stand up without using anything to help you

2) Signing great! You sign "more", "milk", "drink", "eat", "bath", "all done" on a regular bases. You are telling us more with your signs when you want something.

3) Saying "dog" and looking at Maverick

4) Saying "ball" when you pick up a ball

5) Saying "bath" during bath time

6) Shake your head no a lot more this month

7) Start stomping your feet really fast when you are dancing

8) A lot of head bobbing and shaking when dancing. You also flap your arms a lot. Its so cute!

9) Babble all the time! You love saying "Peco, Peco, Peco"

10) Throw a ball

11) Say Bye Bye

12) Wave several different ways

Little Brody Man - I love you so much. I am so thankful that God choose me to be your Mommy. You bring so much light and life to my life daily. I look forward everyday to getting home from work to see you!!! I would do anything for you sweetheart. I will always love, support, and pray for you!!

I love you more than you will ever know!
